Rocksteady is gearing up for its next big release, and the studio has officially started its search for a Game Director. Warner Bros. Discovery posted a job listing for the role on February 17.
The job description states that the successful candidate will be tasked with creating a "high-quality game design" encompassing everything from core gameplay mechanics and player progression to combat systems and mission design. The ideal candidate should have experience across various genres, including third-person action, open-world adventures, and melee combat games. This has sparked speculation that Rocksteady might be returning to the Batman universe—the franchise that put the studio on the map.
The Batman: Arkham series aligns closely with these requirements, unlike Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which focused more on gunplay than hand-to-hand combat.
Given that Rocksteady is still in the early hiring phase, the game is likely in the conceptual stage. Industry insider Jason Schreier has also noted that if Rocksteady moves forward with a new single-player Batman game, fans shouldn’t expect it for several more years.

The game has received mixed reviews, with critics scoring it 63 out of 100 and players giving it a 4.2 out of 10 on Metacritic.
Earlier reports have suggested that Rocksteady might revisit the Batman franchise, with rumors pointing to a project inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series.
