A surprising gift for Skyrim fans has been uncovered in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Players exploring the remastered version of the game on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S can now spot the iconic Throat of the World, Skyrim's tallest mountain, on the horizon of the map. This feature was absent from the original 2006 release.

While the remaster primarily focuses on enhancing graphics and gameplay mechanics without introducing extensive new content, the developers chose to create a more tangible connection between the provinces of Cyrodiil and Skyrim. By climbing to elevated vantage points, players can glimpse the outlines of Skyrim’s mountains and landscapes blending into the distance.
Interestingly, parts of Skyrim’s terrain have even been recreated within the game, though accessing these areas is only possible using developer tools. This addition was made feasible by modern technology—something that would have been impossible to achieve in 2006 due to hardware limitations.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered launched earlier this week, priced at $50 or included as part of certain Xbox Game Pass subscriptions.
