Fans of the genre are still being surprised by Bloober Team Studios. Both series fans and newcomers gave the Silent Hill 2 Remake favorable reviews, but the company isn't done yet.
In a recent Bonfire Conversations podcast, game director Mateusz Lenart revealed an interesting fact: Bloober Team was considering the idea of creating a horror game set in the Lord of the Rings universe. The concept envisioned a grim survival horror game, immersing players in the dark corners of Middle-earth.
But the project remained an idea, as the developers failed to get the rights to use the franchise. Fans believe that such a project would have had great potential. Tolkien's books have enough dark plots, which are perfect for creating a tense atmosphere.
But now Bloober Team is focused on the new project Cronos: The New Dawn and, possibly, continuing cooperation with Konami within the Silent Hill universe. It is still unknown whether the studio will return to the idea of a horror in Tolkien's universe after the recent success, but the idea with frightening images of Nazgûl or Gollum is interesting in itself.
