The peak concurrent player count for Silent Hill 2 Remake on Steam reached 23,676 players within the first 24 hours after its full release.

For the publisher Konami, this marks the third-best result among its Steam releases. The top spot is held by Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel with a peak of 262,689 players, while Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain takes second place with 91,195 peak concurrent players.

Although these numbers are not groundbreaking, we should remember that Silent Hill 2 is an old iconic game in a niche genre of horror. Interestingly, CD Projekt Red decided to creatively congratulate the Bloober team with the release. Polish company paid homage to the cover of Silent Hill 2, by putting V and Songbird from the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty in a foggy Night City.

The developers of the remake also released a short video diary focusing on how the Bloober team portrayed the protagonist, James Sunderland.

However, not everything went well. There were reports of bugs, when players would get major spoilers in the beginning of the game. Luckily, it was quickly patched out.
