Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) recently shared details about working on his new project in an interview. The developer admitted that he's currently pouring all his energy into completing Haunted Chocolatier and is even considering complete isolation for the final push.
Sometimes I think: maybe I should just disappear to a cabin in the woods, cut off my internet, and say - see you in two years when the game is ready.
Four years of development have significantly altered the creative process. As the creator notes, during this time he's evolved both as a person and as a game designer, requiring fundamental revisions to some game elements.
The initial concepts have undergone major changes - the game looks completely different now.
While working on this new project, Barone has deliberately paused development of Stardew Valley - the cult farming simulator with over 41 million copies sold. According to him, the existing version of the game is in perfect shape and continues attracting new players without additional updates.
For an indie developer, this scale presents a serious challenge. Yet Barone isn't rushing: he's determined to create something truly unique, even if the path to get there proves long and difficult.
