While Capcom's new release is setting online records (ranking 6th in Steam's most-played titles at the time of writing), users continue to criticize the game's rating on Valve's platform due to its terrible technical state. Digital Foundry has also confirmed the game's poor condition, publishing a detailed analysis of the PC version and drawing disappointing conclusions.
According to their findings, the game suffers from numerous issues. For example, shader pre-compilation takes about 9 minutes on a system with a 9800X3D processor and over 30 minutes on a Ryzen 3600. Texture quality is subpar even on "High" graphics settings. On a PC with an RTX 4060, set to "High" settings at 1440p resolution with balanced DLSS, significant frame time spikes are observed. Even on the more powerful RTX 4070 with 12 GB of memory, textures look extremely poor.
For GPUs with 8 GB of memory, it is recommended to lower texture quality to "Medium" to minimize stuttering and frame time spikes. However, even then, visual quality remains unsatisfactory. Rapid camera movement still causes noticeable spikes, although these issues are less pronounced with slower camera movements. Notably, even with low-quality textures, the frame time issue persists.
Alex Battaglia from Digital Foundry suggests that the root of the problem lies in data streaming, which creates excessive load on the GPU during decompression. This is particularly critical for budget graphics cards, causing sharp frame time spikes. He does not recommend the game to owners of 8 GB GPUs and is cautious about using even more powerful solutions like the RTX 4070.
The game performs especially poorly on Intel GPUs. For example, the Arc 770 delivers only 15–20 frames per second, accompanied by missing textures and other visual artifacts. While these issues can be partially mitigated on high-performance systems, the game still doesn't always run smoothly. At the moment, creating optimized settings is nearly impossible, as it inevitably leads to a significant loss of visual quality.
