Adam Whiting, Assistant Creative Director at Build a Rocket Boy studio, expressed the view that modern games have lost their connection to cinema as a source of inspiration, and this tradition needs to be revived.
The developers aim to create a dynamic and grand-scale adventure unattainable in the film format. According to Whiting, interactive media is the ideal way to tell a compelling story, allowing players to directly engage in the action. The team believes that games' unique advantage lies in their absolute freedom in camera angle selection, which opens up opportunities for distinctive visual solutions.
At the same time, Whiting noted the rising costs of game production and publishers' increasing focus on live-service models, leaving little room for cinematic projects.
Amid the popularity of large-scale RPGs offering hundreds of hours of content, MindsEye deliberately returns to the roots — a brief yet rich cinematic experience.
The game's plot follows a former private military contractor operative employed by an oligarchic tech conglomerate. The protagonist must uncover the truth about their past in a world where organized crime, advanced AI, and human greed intertwine.
MindsEye releases on June 10, 2025.
