The stress test for eighth and, perhaps, the last major patch of Baldur's Gate III has officially begun. Previously, some Sony console players gained early access to the patch, but for those not interested in testing it, the developers recommend reinstalling the game.

As for the key features of Patch 8, one major update is crossplay, allowing players on consoles and PC to play together. Players can also invite friends from different platforms as long as they have a linked Larian account. Interestingly, even modded gameplay will support cross-platform play under a couple of conditions. First, all mods used by the PC player must also be available on Mac and consoles. Second, the host’s lobby must not exceed a double-digit number of mods installed.

On the topic of multiplayer, a long-awaited feature is now being tested: split-screen co-op on Xbox Series S. Previously, this lower-powered console didn’t support split-screen play, and it is great news for all users of this controversial console.

Other highlights of Patch 8 include a photo mode packed with customization options and 12 new subclasses that bring more variety to the game. Larian has also addressed bugs and rebalanced elements, though some issues remain. A full list of changes for the stress test is available on the game’s page.
