Originally, Resident Evil 6 launched in 2012 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a remastered version released in spring 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’s likely that this new re-release is being prepared not only for the Xbox Series but also for the PlayStation 5, although no official announcement has been made yet.

Given the information available, players are left speculating about what exactly sets the native version for current-generation consoles apart from the previous remaster. For now, the only observable change lies in the game's description. Earlier versions were labeled as a "third-person shooter," while the new listing refers to it as a "survival horror" game.
