According to Team Ninja producer Fumihiko Yasuda, the studio has long wanted to create a new installment in the series, but couldn't decide on a concept. At some point, Koei Tecmo president Hisashi Koinuma and PlatinumGames head Atsushi Inaba talked about the project, and then Spencer got involved. He suggested that the three companies join forces to launch work on the game.
Phil Spencer confirmed that talks had been going on since 2017, when he first talked to Team Ninja about a possible sequel. Eventually, after years of discussions, they found the perfect match - PlatinumGames with its experience working on fast-paced action games like Bayonetta and NieR: Automata.
Ninja Gaiden 4 was announced last week, and in addition to that, a re-release of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, an improved version of the Xbox 360 hit, was suddenly released on Xbox, PS5 and PC.
The first trailer suggests that Ryu Hayabusa, a ninja, will play the lead role in this action-packed slasher. According to the gameplay trailer, Ninja Gaiden 4 will feature a number of new mechanics not found in previous iterations of the series, including the ability to move swiftly through areas using wires and rails.
Although DOOM: The Dark Ages was undoubtedly the primary attraction for gamers at Developer_Direct, it wasn't the only hot topic. Ninja Gaiden 4, the follow-up to Koei Tecmo's well-liked series, was revealed during the broadcast. It will be available in the fall of 2025.
