The Sims franchise is celebrating its 25th anniversary in full swing, and while Electronic Arts has shared a roadmap for the event, it seems there’s still room for surprises.

Today, The Sims released a teaser containing references to the first two games in the series. Naturally, fans have started speculating that these classic titles might return in some form. There’s no official confirmation yet, but sources at Kotaku suggest that by the end of the week, EA and Maxis Games might release digital PC versions of The Sims 1 and 2 with all original expansion packs.

If true, the question remains whether there will also be a console release, and if so, when. It seems unlikely that EA would pass up the opportunity to profit from players' nostalgia.

The Sims 1 and 2 were released a long time ago, and legal options for playing these titles today are practically nonexistent. A comeback would undoubtedly delight many fans of the franchise.
