The French studio Don't Nod (Life is Strange) has released the first chapter of its new narrative-driven experience. Players can already dive into Tape 1, while Tape 2 will become available for free to all buyers on April 15.
First revealed in 2023, the game tells the story of a close-knit group of friends who were inexplicably torn apart in the summer of 1995. Now, 27 years later, the ghosts of that summer return, bringing chilling consequences none of them could have foreseen.
Drawing inspiration from It, Yellowjackets, and I Know What You Did Last Summer, the game masterfully blends nostalgia and psychological thriller elements. The developers have chosen to split the game into two parts—Bloom and Rage. As of today, February 18, only the first half of this haunting tale is available.
The second part, referred to by the team as "The Tape," will finally be released on April 15. Originally slated for March, the launch was pushed back to ensure a more polished experience.
Meanwhile, the review embargo has lifted. OpenCritic reports an average critic score of 74/100, marking a solid start for this gripping mystery.
