Jim Ryan, ex-CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, spent his last working day with the company. After March 29, he is no longer employed by the company as PlayStations enters another chapter of its corporate history.

Jim is a true veteran of the company: he joined Sony back in 1994 as a marketing guy. Three decades later he quit it as the SIE CEO. He mentioned that continuing hard work in the United States while living in Europe was becoming more difficult.

The Englishman announced his retirement last September, but on his last working day, he made one more interesting announcement. On the PlayStation podcast, he said that PlayStation 2 was sold 160 million units all over the world.

Starting April 1, Hiroki Titoki will step up as an interim CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. We are yet to know when the new permanent leader of the Sony-owned company is announced.

Jim Ryan has been the face of PlayStation since 2019. Under his leadership, Sony successfully launched PlayStation 5. How will PlayStation change after Jim’s retirement? Only time will tell.
