For a long time, the Tron movie franchise had been considered a cult classic which did not have an appeal to the broad audience. Lately, Disney tries to bring more Tron content to the public, even in the form of games. The first trailer, screenshots, and details about Tron: Catalyst were released today. The game is set to launch in 2025 on PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

The game is being developed by Bithell Games, known for the visual novel Tron: Identity, also part of Disney's media franchise. It will be published by Big Fan Games, a label under Devolver Digital.

Tron: Catalyst centers around a program named Exo, who works as a courier within the System. According to the synopsis, her life drastically changes after a mysterious package explodes, granting her unique abilities. The protagonist must escape from ruthless peacekeepers of the virtual world while uncovering its secrets.

With her newfound abilities, Exo will be able to interact with small loops caused by glitches, open hidden areas and pathways, and influence rival gangs' actions. Although the game won’t feature an open world, the developers promise spacious locations that can be explored on foot or via light cycle.

The upcoming action game will be a fully-fledged narrative adventure with colorful characters, captivating stories, meticulously recreated environments, and an atmospheric soundtrack. Journalists who tried the demo described the gameplay as a mix between the roguelike Hades and the Metroid series.
