Fighting games is a genre that traces its roots back to the arcade times. Two people standing near each other and trying to determine who is stronger - competition is in the DNA of the fighting games community. That's why it is interesting to look at the registration stats of the big events, especially in the USA.

Combo Breaker is one of the biggest fighting game events that will happen in two weeks. However, registration has already been closed, and event organizers have shown us the stats.

On top of the list, we have Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 as numbers one and two, respectively. These two franchises have been compared forever, and now the interest in the Bandai Namco title is unsurprising. First of all, Tekken 8 was released a little bit later, but also Combo Breaker is a Master tier event in Tekken World Tour, so many people wish to earn valuable TWT points. As for the SF6 pro circuit, we're currently waiting for the Capcom Pro Tour to start.

Guilty Gear -Strive-, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising and Under Night In-Birth II are unsurprisingly in the top five. ARC System Works does a great job of working with the community, and these titles are popular.

What is really surprising is the low position of Mortal Kombat 1. Combo Breaker offers more than $10,000 in prize pool, and the event will be part of the MK1 Pro Kompetition. Yet, it gathered only 274 players which is a far cry from 800-900 players during the MK11 era. Something has changed, and not for the good.

Combo Breaker will take place on May 24-26 in Schaumburg, IL.
