Seb Araujo used cheat software in numerous Fortnite matches, giving him an "unfair edge over other, non-cheating participants." Araujo used aimbotting software and wallhacks. Epic believes that utilizing these exploits in Fortnite competitions helped Araujo to win thousands of dollars in prizes.

"Araujo collected thousands of dollars while other tournament competitors—who played by the rules—had no genuine chance of winning," according to the complaint.

"We want Fortnite tournaments to be enjoyable and fair for all participants. People that cheat in tournaments to obtain an unfair advantage degrade the experience for everyone. "We are making major improvements to fight cheating in our events, including taking legal action against participants who violate our rules," said Epic Games' Competitive Director, Brent Coyle.

Epic Games has already taken action against Fortnite cheats. In 2022, the publisher won a case against an Australian Fortnite cheater. If Epic wins this case, Araujo may face the same fate as the PUBG cheater who was forced to pay $10 million, or the Destiny 2 cheater who was required to pay $500,000 in damages and a perma-ban.
