Out of 3,000 game developers polled, 80% prefer the PC platform to consoles, per a recent survey. The percentage was only 58% in 2021, but it rose to 66% in 2024. This demonstrates how quickly interest in the PC market has grown in recent years.

The results demonstrate a shift in industry priorities. Consoles are losing importance as developers increasingly favor the PC, which offers flexibility, scalability and a larger audience. For example, only 38% of developers are now working on games for PS5 (including the Pro version), while 34% are working on Xbox Series X|S.

Despite contradicting research findings, Sony formally asserts that the departure of PC gamers poses no threat to PlayStation. Simultaneously, console makers are starting to adjust to emerging trends by creating multi-platform plans and streamlining corporate procedures.

The results do not represent the entire industry because the survey only included 3,000 developers. However, the pattern indicates that PC gaming is becoming more and more popular.

Naturally, gamers are wondering if it makes sense to wait for the flagship Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D processors, or if the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is a better option. AMD Product Development Manager Martin Boonstra explained the situation by forecasting that the new processors will have gaming performance comparable to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
