We are very close to The Game Awards 2024 ceremony, and while regular players only partially influence the distribution of awards, the Players' Voice nomination is entirely in the hands of the people.

The voting takes place in three rounds, and out of thirty titles, only five remain. All five games are developed by studios from Asia, and the final choice may seem somewhat controversial. That's because in the final round, players can vote for:

Three gacha games, an expansion, and an AAA soulslike. Some people may be unpleasantly surprised by this selection, but it seems that these are the tastes of the players today. It's worth noting that Genshin Impact already won this nomination two years ago. Last year, the winner of the Players' Voice award was Baldur's Gate 3.

From my perspective, I want to point out that this voting shows that 2024 hasn't been such an exciting year in terms of game releases. Next year will be much more interesting, partly because we are expecting Grand Theft Auto 6 and a series of major announcements that are expected at The Game Awards, which will relate to releases in 2025.
