Former Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick has filed a lawsuit against G/O Media, the parent company of Kotaku and Gizmodo, accusing the outlets of defamation. Kotick claims he was deliberately defamed in articles discussing alleged workplace misconduct during his tenure at Activision Blizzard. These publications appeared after the company had already resolved related legal disputes, according to the lawsuit.

Despite this, Kotaku and Gizmodo allegedly inserted baseless accusations about workplace issues at Activision, which Kotick insists were thoroughly disproven by multiple investigations. The lawsuit accuses the outlets of intentionally distorting facts to damage Kotick’s reputation.
Kotick’s legal team reportedly contacted G/O Media multiple times, demanding corrections to the articles. These requests included removing the description of Kotick as a "disgraced" CEO from headlines and noting that the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing had voluntarily withdrawn its claims. While Gizmodo and Kotaku made some adjustments, Kotick argues that the revised articles still misrepresent the facts. The extent of the harm caused to the former CEO will be determined by the court.
