Mat Piscatella from the analytics firm Circana shared his thoughts on the pricing of the Nintendo Switch 2—a hot topic that Nintendo is likely to address during a full presentation in April. According to Piscatella, the price may not be a significant factor at launch.

In his view, early adopters of Nintendo’s new hardware tend to be less sensitive to pricing. As long as the initial cost isn’t outrageously high, the Switch 2 is expected to sell without issue. Piscatella seems to imply that die-hard Nintendo fans will likely purchase the console at launch regardless of its price.

He also believes that Nintendo has room to lower the price of the Switch 2 sometime after its release. Piscatella estimates the launch price to be around $400.

As for sales projections, Piscatella stands by his estimate of 4.3 million units sold in the first year in the U.S. On a global scale, sales could reach 14-17 million units.

Looking further into the future, the analyst predicts that while the Switch 2 will be a "huge success," it is unlikely to match the staggering sales numbers of the original hybrid console. The sheer volume of Switch sales remains a high bar for its successor.
