For a huge number of game developers, the main boss battle is the Xbox Series S. Due to its limited hardware, the console forces studios to get creative with various workarounds and optimizations. And with the Nintendo Switch lagging behind in the console race, the question of hardware in Switch 2 has become especially pressing. Thankfully, some developers have shared good news with journalist Stephen Totilo.

The team behind Sid Meier's Civilization VII said they are extremely pleased with the performance of the Switch 2. According to them, working with Nintendo has been a pleasure—the company provides excellent development tools and maintains close communication with third-party studios.

Meanwhile, Avalanche Software specifically praised how much Switch 2 improves loading times, which were notoriously long on the original Switch. The team, which has been working on Hogwarts Legacy for about a year, quickly achieved solid performance and then began implementing improvements like more detailed textures and enhanced lighting.

So at launch, we may very well be looking at a portable console with surprisingly solid specs.
