Netflix has officially greenlit a daring new live-action fantasy series inspired by the sprawling universe of Dungeons Dragons, as reported by Deadline. The creative reins will be in the hands of writer Drew Crevello (Upgraded), with acclaimed producer Shawn Levy (Deadpool 3, Stranger Things) steering the project.

Bearing the title The Forgotten Realms, the show is set to transport viewers into one of the most celebrated settings in role-playing game history. This immersive world has played host to legendary tales, including the iconic Baldur’s Gate 3.

The Dungeons Dragons franchise recently found success on the big screen with Dungeons Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023), an adventure-packed film set in the Forgotten Realms, starring Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez.

Following Paramount’s withdrawal, Netflix seized the opportunity to move forward with its own interpretation of the franchise. However, this new series will not be linked to Honor Among Thieves, instead forging an independent path.

Currently, the series remains in the early phases of development, with key details—such as casting, release schedule, and episode count—yet to be unveiled.
