The Japanese company Nintendo has decided to intensify its efforts against the improper use of characters from its franchises in fan content. This was stated by President Shuntaro Furukawa during a conversation with investors.

Furukawa is confident that the "inappropriate" (or obscene) use of characters and other elements from Nintendo's franchises can negatively impact the company's image and cause discomfort among users. Therefore, the studio will begin to crack down on those who use its content in ways that violate the company's policies, such as erotic illustrations.

Nintendo is very zealous in protecting its intellectual property. Most often, the company fights against piracy or the use of its characters in mods or other games. And the biggest problem with such cases is knowing the line between what is allowed and what isn't.

This can especially be applied to Nintendo, whose approach is sometimes very ridiculous. For example, at Super Smash Bros. Ultimate events, Nintendo forbids selling water and food. If the company decides to entirely get rid of Bowsette, a community created character ruled by Nintendo as non-canon, it will be sad but not surprising.
