Samsung has long attempted to supply NVIDIA with high bandwidth memory, or HBM for short, but has continuously encountered difficulties. Their HBM3 was said to have failed NVIDIA's qualifying tests, but Jensen Huang refuted the reports.
However, nothing has changed, and it is now evident that the corporation is becoming increasingly frustrated. Huang recently said that Samsung's engineers are unreliable and that the company's management is to blame for HBM's issues.
We are not Samsung Electronics' employees; we are their customers. Their HBM engineers and products are unreliable. In an interview with Korean media, Huang stated, The company's management changes too frequently, so we can't cooperate with them.
Even though Samsung offered to supply GDDR7 memory, NVIDIA decided to choose Micron for its RTX Blackwell GPUs. Samsung is certain that it will make it through the qualifying process, but NVIDIA appears to have lost faith.
The decision is significant for Samsung, as supplying HBM memory to NVIDIA is critical to the company's stability. At the same time, NVIDIA is leaning more and more towards sourcing from Taiwan, making a future partnership with Samsung unlikely.
The company is still working to fulfill its HBM memory needs, but now it looks like it will be doing so with other partners.
