In response to complaints about the new RTX 5090 GPU's exorbitant cost, Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, stated that true enthusiasts won't find it an issue.

In an interview after his presentation at CES 2025, he said that gamers willing to pay $1999 for a flagship model don't want to compromise for a $100 savings. Such users, he said, are always looking for the best rather than something “a little worse” for a lower price.

Huang acknowledged that the RTX 5090 is not a budget product, nor is it for everyone. But in his opinion, those who spend thousands of dollars to build a top-of-the-line gaming PC can easily afford this GPU.

“Our enthusiasts won't settle for something slightly better or save $100 by choosing a cheaper model.”

Huang emphasized that the price is justified by the top-end features that are important to their target audience. At the same time, the test results showed that the performance improvements between the RTX 5090 and RTX 4090 are quite modest unless new technologies such as DLSS 4.0 and Multi Frame Generation are utilized.

The business demonstrated that the RTX 5090 performed better than the RTX 4090 when the new NVIDIA graphics cards were released. Experts noted that the experiments employed a variety of data compression techniques, which may have skewed the results.
