Sony is closing the now infamous Firewalk Studios, known for its failed shooter Concord. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier first reported the news, followed by Sony’s official announcement on its website.

Sony has no plans to relaunch Concord, which means the servers will not go online, nor will the shooter switch to a free-to-play model as previously considered. Sony spent significant time evaluating options for Concord after its disappointing release but ultimately decided against a relaunch.

According to the PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst, some aspects of the game were exceptional, but others failed to attract enough players.

Sony remains committed to PvP shooters and intends to draw conclusions from the unsuccessful release of Concord to improve future live-service games. The company also announced the shut down of Neon Koi, a studio focused on mobile games. It is interesting, because, according to Sony, mobile projects remain a “priority growth area” for PlayStation.
