In a recent announcement, Marvelous revealed that game cards designed for the upcoming Switch 2 Edition will also be compatible with the original Nintendo Switch. This confirmation comes via the FAQ section for Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma , one of the first titles set to launch on the next-generation console.

The company explained that the red 64 GB game card contains both the complete version of the game and enhancements tailored for Switch 2. The system intelligently detects which console is being used and automatically loads the appropriate version of the game. Players won’t need to download any additional content, as everything is pre-installed on the cartridge, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience.

Marvelous also noted that minor patches may be available on launch day to provide slight improvements. However, the game is fully optimized and ready to play "out of the box," similar to the Smart Delivery feature on Xbox. This guarantees players receive the best possible experience regardless of their console model.

Previously, Nintendo had mentioned that Switch 2 Edition cards would include both the original game and enhancements for the new platform. However, it was unclear whether these cards would work on the original Switch. Marvelous’ clarification removes any ambiguity, confirming backward compatibility and enabling owners of either console to enjoy the same physical copy without restrictions.

This development highlights Nintendo’s commitment to ensuring continuity between its consoles while offering players flexibility and value. For fans of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma or those curious about the capabilities of Switch 2 Edition games, this news ensures a seamless transition and an enhanced gaming experience across generations.
