Bethesda has lost another longtime developer — Todd Vaughn, the company’s Vice President of Development, has left after 26 years. Vaughn joined Bethesda in 1998 and worked on some of the studio’s biggest hits, including Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout, and Doom Eternal.
Fans noticed the change after Vaughn updated his LinkedIn profile, which now lists his new job as being a co-owner of a brewery, marking a big career shift outside the gaming world. Vaughn hasn’t commented publicly on his departure or his reasons for leaving.

His exit continues a trend at Bethesda, where many veteran developers — including key names behind Skyrim and Starfield — have stepped away in recent years. With Vaughn gone, the studio faces more pressure to deliver future projects with fewer original hands on deck. Everything is changing, but it is interesting and worrying to imagine Bethesda in the future.
