The final episodes of the second season of Star Wars: Andor have been released. The series has officially concluded, with its events leading directly into the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
The final episodes received exceptionally high ratings from viewers on IMDb: six out of the twelve episodes in the second season scored above 9.5/10, setting a new record of sorts.
In terms of overall average ratings within the franchise, Andor (8.4/10) is surpassed only by Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (8.7/10) and The Mandalorian (8.6/10).
This once again proves that viewers haven’t grown tired of Star Wars—they’ve grown tired of the franchise’s low-quality projects, which Disney has predominantly produced since acquiring Lucasfilm. Against this backdrop, Andor and The Mandalorian stand out as exceptions rather than the rule.
Online calculations show that the total runtime of Andor is 20 hours and 15 minutes. For comparison, the Skywalker Saga—the nine main films of the franchise—runs for 20 hours and 35 minutes, nearly the same length but with a vast difference in storytelling, character development, and overall depth.
Many viewers believe that Andor, in terms of atmosphere, darkness, and narrative engagement, matches—or even surpasses—the original Star Wars trilogy. There are numerous calls online for showrunner Tony Gilroy to return to the franchise and continue telling compelling stories about different characters.
