Disney has unveiled the first official trailer for its highly anticipated live-action adaptation of the beloved animated film Lilo & Stitch . The story follows Stitch, a mischievous alien with a knack for destruction, who escapes captivity and accidentally lands on Earth. Meanwhile, Lilo, a young Hawaiian girl, mistakes Stitch’s crashing spaceship for a falling star and makes a heartfelt wish for a true friend. Their fateful meeting marks the beginning of an unlikely bond—Stitch initially pretends to be kind but eventually forms a genuine connection with his new companion.

The film is directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp, known for his work on Marcel the Shell with Shoes On . The cast includes rising star Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Chris Sanders (The Lion King) reprising his role as the voice of Stitch, Tia Carrere (Wayne’s World), Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Billy Magnussen (No Time to Die), and more. Audiences can look forward to the movie’s release on May 23, 2025.

The project was first announced back in 2018, with Disney aiming to bring the animated classic to life using real actors. The remake promises to explore complex relationships, alien pursuits, and challenges involving child protective services, adding depth to the original story while staying true to its heartwarming essence.
