According to forecasts, Disney's new remake could earn over $100 million in its first week at the box office. While this is an impressive sum, it pales in comparison to the film's budget. As reported by Forbes, the production of "Snow White" cost the studio approximately $270 million. Therefore, such a start can hardly be called successful for Disney's new project.
To simply break even, the film needs to earn at least $600 million at the box office. In this context, the aforementioned opening sum looks more like a warning of a potential box office failure.
It's worth noting that Disney's high-budget projects usually earn over $150 million in their first week. However, in the case of "Snow White", the situation is complicated by a series of scandals that may have negatively impacted audience interest. This could affect the final box office results, making them lower than expected.
Thus, despite optimistic forecasts, the film's success remains in question, especially given the high production costs and the negative narrative surrounding the project.
The film premieres on March 21.
