CES 2025 is in full swing, and while Nintendo is not officially participating, many are anticipating a major announcement from the Japanese company. Although much about the console remains tightly under wraps, accessory manufacturers present in Las Vegas are showing attendees a glimpse of the new Nintendo Switch 2, claiming they have already worked with prototype models.

One such manufacturer is Genki, which, during a conversation with Numerama journalists, shared its expectation that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in April 2025. According to Genki, some units of the new console are already circulating on the black market. At the event, they displayed a model they claim is based on the upcoming Nintendo console.

If Genki's information is accurate, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be larger than the first generation. Joy-Con controllers will attach magnetically and lock securely, requiring a special button to detach them. Interestingly, the right Joy-Con will feature an additional "C" button, the purpose of which even Genki is unsure about. The console’s body will also include a second USB-C port.

It seems we won’t have to wait long for official announcements, but for now, we’re piecing together whatever information we can.
