We're only a couple of weeks after the launch of the new "green" graphics cards, and two owners of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition have shared their troubles with melted connectors and damaged power supplies.

The first report of a melted connector came from a Reddit user under the nickname ivan6953. He used a third-party cable from a well-known computer hardware manufacturer. The cable was correctly inserted.

The second owner to report a melted connector was Spanish tech blogger Toro Tocho. He used a cable from a PSU manufacturer, and the damage occurred on both sides. The YouTuber stated that the problem might have been in an worn-out connector, which he had heavily used during tests.

Owners of previous-generation graphics cards are probably experiencing flashbacks. Similar, but more widespread issues occurred after the release of the RTX 40 series. Back then, problems were caused by loose cable connections and debris in the connectors, which led NVIDIA to make design changes.
