Tech YouTuber Steve Walton from Hardware Unboxed just tested the new RTX 5060 Ti 8GB—and he’s not happy. He says NVIDIA made a weak graphics card and tried to hide how bad it really is.

There are two versions: one with 8GB of memory and one with 16GB. They look almost the same, but the 8GB version plays way worse in many games. In The Last of Us Part II, the 16GB card got around 68 fps with good settings. The 8GB version? Just 30 fps, with lots of lag and stuttering.

In other games like Hogwarts Legacy, the difference is even crazier. The 8GB card was up to 483% slower than the 16GB one with ray tracing on!

Steve says the 8GB version is only okay for 1080p gaming, and even then it can still lag. He’s worried that some gamers—especially those buying prebuilt PCs—might get tricked into thinking both versions perform the same. But they don’t.

He also thinks NVIDIA is planning it so people will have to upgrade again in a couple of years. His advice? Don’t buy the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. Spend a little more on the 16GB one or wait for something better.
