At CES 2025, NVIDIA unveiled its new ACE technology, which allows autonomous characters to be either allies or enemies in video games. AI characters plan their moves, think like actual players, and respond appropriately.
The first project where ACE will appear will be PUBG. The new partner, named PUBG Ally, will be the world's first “co-playing character” (CPC). It performs the same tasks as a real player: finding loot, managing transportation, engaging in combat and offering strategic solutions in real time.
ACE technology will also be used to create enemies. NVIDIA claims that these bosses will be able to dynamically adapt to players' tactics, making battles more complex and requiring gamers to create new strategies. Instead of memorizing predictable attack patterns, players will have to develop their skills.
The first game with such bosses will be MIR5, and adaptive AI technology promises to make each battle unique. Enemies will monitor and adapt to the strategies used by players to constantly challenge them.
ACE is a step into a new generation of games where allies and enemies not only adapt to the gamer, but also make each project unique.
