Renowned insider Tom Henderson attended GDC 2025, and as expected, he gathered a wealth of information from developers present at the event. Upon his return, he shared some exciting news about the Nintendo Switch 2.

According to Henderson, one of the key discussions revolved around the console’s release window, which is now expected to launch in June. Additionally, next week, select media outlets and developers will attend a special seminar where they will get a first look at the new product. Given that Nintendo’s big presentation is scheduled for next Wednesday, the timing is no coincidence.

Henderson also learned about Nintendo’s launch strategy for Switch 2 games. There are reportedly three main phases:

  • June – Primarily first-party games from Nintendo’s internal studios
  • Fall – Games from third-party developers
  • December – A major wave of releases ahead of the holiday season

Interestingly, Nintendo has not yet sent Switch 2 dev kits to most developers. Henderson claims the company intends to do so in June, after the console's official launch.

The release of the Nintendo Switch 2 is shaping up to be one of the biggest gaming events of the year. The only thing that might overshadow it is GTA 6, and even then, it's debatable which one is more anticipated.
