Despite the frequent rumors about player salaries in the esports community (especially among top players), we rarely get confirmation directly from the participants. That's why an interview with Bwipo, where he revealed the seven-figure amount he earned during his three years in Fnatic, is so valuable.
Over the last three years at Fnatic, Bwipo earned one and a half million euros. This amounts to more than 40,000 euros per month. For esports, this is a very large, though not record-breaking, sum. Notably, Bwipo spent four years at Fnatic, but it's suspected that this contract came after the huge success in 2018 when the European team reached the grand final of the League of Legends world championship.
Back then, League of Legends sometimes saw insane contracts: for example, TSM paid SwordArt six million dollars for two years. Such spending and the race for salaries eventually led to a market correction in esports, also known as the esports winter. The effects of it are still felt today.
