The League of Legends World Champion is crowned, the season is basically over, so Riot Games, like they usually do, presented the big changes to the 2025 season.

The ranking system in LoL will undergo changes once again. Riot Games will abandon the division of the year into three splits due to player complaints about the constant need to play placement matches. The ranking season will now consist of a single annual cycle. Rank resets will occur at the start of the year, with no further recalibrations throughout the season. However, the year will still be divided into three thematic phases. The first phase will take place in Noxus.

A new map monster, Atakhan, the Bringer of Ruin, will be introduced. This creature will feature two possible forms (only one will appear in game) and will alter the map's terrain upon appearing. It has two possible spawns and two possible rewards depending on which side of the map is more active and if the game is active or passive. This brings us to more variety but not more random in games.

Also, the team that achieves two of the three goals (first blood, first tower, first epic jungle monster) will have a boots buff and a possibility to upgrade them in the late game. On the other hand, to give the losing team more chances to comeback, Nexus towers can be regenerated after some time.
