PGL Bucharest 2025 feels like a tournament caught in a sort of twilight zone. It no longer affects the Valve rankings or invites to the Austin Major, and several top-tier teams skipped the event in favor of ESL and BLAST competitions.

Still, for some teams, it's an important warm-up heading into the second quarter of the season. That doesn’t mean it’s been without surprises — and perhaps the biggest shock so far has been Team Liquid’s collapse. With their new IGL siuhy at the helm, the North American squad put on a dismal showing, losing all six of their maps and exiting the tournament after just three rounds.

Team Falcons, another top-tier roster, managed to avoid elimination by narrowly defeating Pain Gaming in the final round. However, given recent rumors, it’s possible that NiKo and his squad are simply playing out this portion of the season with minimal expectations.

On the flip side, G2 Esports and 3DMAX have looked solid, each securing playoff spots after three confident victories. Tomorrow, we’ll find out the names of three more playoff contenders — and three teams that will be heading home. The story of PGL Bucharest 2025 is far from over.
