The competitive season format for League of Legends might seem unbalanced to some. Most participants for the LoL World Championship are determined by the results of the Summer Split. However, this means it will be more exciting to watch the competitive scene in the near future as more teams secure their tickets to Europe for the end of September.

So far, we know only two such teams: Gen.G won the Mid-Season Invitational, and while they still need to reach the LCK playoffs, with a 12-0 record after six weeks it is a pure formality. The second team to qualify is G2 Esports

Their success is not surprising, as the team dominated the regional scene throughout the season. However, fans were a little anxious after the upper bracket final loss to Fnatic (2:3). But it did not stop G2, as they came back and swept their rivals in the grand final.

Currently, G2 Esports is heading to Worlds with the worst seed from LEC, but they can easily improve this situation in the LEC finals. This final bracket will determine two more Worlds participants.
