For the last several weeks the rumors of m0NESY leaving G2 and joining Team Falcons has been quite intense. Now, it is confirmed that the Russian prodigy won't spend the second half of 2025 with the European team.
G2 CEO, Alban Dechelotte, personally adressed the rumors — the org agreed to a deal involving their superstar. He said it was a decision made at the organization level and asked fans to direct any comments or criticism to him, not the players, staff, or management.
Ilya’s contract was supposed to run until December 2025, but G2 decided to make the move now to give themselves the best shot at rebuilding for the future. (Meaning that they gave up on all attempts to resign m0NESY)
Dechelotte admitted it’s hard to watch Ilya leave, but he thanked him for all the incredible moments he gave the team. He also said it was clear Ilya had started to drift away from the team, and the uncertainty around his future made it tough to have real conversations with new talent. Now that the situation’s resolved, G2 is focused on making the most of the last three tournaments this part of the season and building a strong roster for the near future.

This is undoubtedly a huge blow to G2 Esports. While they have talented malbsMd, the rest of the team doesn't look like a tier-1 contender to win top tournaments. This rebuild will be painful for fans.
