Evgenii "Gufis" Kondratev IEM Katowice 2025 marks the official start of the esports season, as it is the first of the four most prestigious tournaments of the year. Today was particularly eventful, featuring two high-profile matchups where superstar players faced off against their former teams.
In the lower bracket of Group A, NiKo and his new team, Team Falcons, went up against G2 Esports. The teams delivered an intense battle that stretched across all three regulation maps, but in the end, G2 Esports emerged victorious.

Meanwhile, ropz and Team Vitality played against FaZe Clan for a spot in the playoffs. This series also went to three maps, but the decider turned into a thriller, with the teams playing through two sets of overtime rounds. Ultimately, the French organization came out on top and will face Virtus.pro tomorrow for a place in the semifinals.

Tomorrow’s matchups are shaping up to be just as exciting, with Natus Vincere taking on Team Spirit for a playoff spot, while FaZe Clan and G2 Esports will fight for survival—one of them will be eliminated. The IEM Katowice 2025 champion will be crowned on February 9.
