Sometimes, limits set by technology can be used for better experience. If we talk about the creative geniuses in gaming, Silent Hill is the example that really stands out, because the famous fog was used to cover the rendering limitations of hardware. Now, when we will have a remake of Silent Hill 2 in a slightly over a month, it is important to know your roots.

Bloober Team released a short video showcasing a few seconds of gameplay, featuring a 90s filter. With this filter enabled, the image becomes grainy, and the visuals are enhanced with special color correction and other effects.

According to the developers, the additional image mode makes the remade horror game look more old-school, aligning with the atmosphere of the original PS2 version.

The remake's creators also revealed that players will be able to fully disable the interface, allowing them to rely solely on visual cues. The protagonist, James, will glance at important objects and change his facial expression depending on the severity of his injuries—elements that were present in the classic version as well.

Silent Hill 2 is set to release on October 8 for PC and PS5, with Deluxe Edition owners gaining early access two days prior.
