Konami has decided to diversify its traditional business areas by venturing into the production of animated films.

The company has announced the establishment of Konami Animation, a new internal organization that will focus on producing animated films. Aiming to dynamically elevate the Japanese anime scene to a new level, the company intends to leverage its extensive experience, knowledge, and cutting-edge technologies accumulated in game development and apply them to anime production.

Currently, two works are featured on the company's official website and are also available on YouTube. One work commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card game in a six-minute video, while the other is the opening of the anime Nanatsu no Maken ga Shihai suru.

It's worth noting that Konami's performance in the gaming industry is mixed. On one hand, the freemium eFootball enjoys popularity: in January, it was reported that the game was played over 700 million times.

On the other hand, the revival of Silent Hill has been somewhat underwhelming. The audience has been lukewarm in its reception of the interactive series Silent Hill: Ascension and the free-to-play Silent Hill: The Short Message, and has also criticized the gameplay trailer for Silent Hill 2 Remake (you can view the trailer here).
