Funcom has unveiled a new trailer for their survival MMO Dune: Awakening, entirely focused on one of the game's key features. The base building system expands upon ideas implemented in Conan Exiles, offering deeper, more versatile and strategically significant gameplay.
On the dangerous expanses of Arrakis, simple walls won't suffice. To protect against deadly sandstorms, players will need to construct fortified bases using CHOAM technologies and energy shields. Only this way can equipment and resources be safeguarded from the destructive forces of nature.
Construction is available both for solo players and cooperative groups. The innovative Celo system significantly simplifies collaborative building. Aligning with Great Houses (such as House Atreides) grants access to exclusive architectural styles, decorative elements and vehicles - your base will reflect not only your progress but also faction allegiance.
Players will be able to:
- Assemble ground vehicles from individual components
- Install various modules
- Fully customize vehicle appearance
Protected hangars and force fields will become mandatory for preserving transport. However, security comes at a price - the Emperor will impose regular taxes for base maintenance.
Special attention is given to creativity - completed bases can be saved as blueprints, shared with allies or sold on an exchange, transforming construction into another form of social interaction.
The trailer showcases impressive outposts. Although closed beta participants haven't yet recreated such massive structures, initial feedback about the system's capabilities is already generating optimism. The game's official launch is planned for June 10th, while an extensive open test will be conducted from May 9th through 12th.
