The inZOI team has made the decision to remove Denuvo protection from their game. In a detailed address to players, producer Kim Hyung-jun admitted that while the studio initially sought to protect legitimate users from piracy, they failed to anticipate the community's negative reaction to such measures.
We asked ourselves a fundamental question: Does using Denuvo align with our 'players first' philosophy? The honest answer is no.
The key argument stemmed from players' concerns about the future of modding. Judging by the letter's tone, the developers concluded that creative freedom truly outweighs anti-piracy measures. The text contains an unexpectedly self-critical admission - the studio acknowledges its mistake in not announcing Denuvo's implementation beforehand.
Separately, Hyung-jun announced plans for official mod support, with implementation beginning in the May update. "I personally consider modding an extremely important element of gaming culture that can significantly extend inZOI's lifespan", the producer noted. Specific modding tools and mechanisms will be revealed after the early access launch.
Our absolute priority remains players' trust and delivering a truly outstanding gaming experience through inZOI.
