At the CitizenCon event, the developers of Star Citizen from Cloud Imperium Games shared details about Squadron 42 — the single-player campaign of the space simulator.

Team lead Chris Roberts stated that he and his colleagues are "confident" that Squadron 42 will be released in 2026. According to him, players can expect 30 to 40 hours of gameplay.

During CitizenCon, the developers also showcased the game's prologue, which lasted over an hour. The demonstration included cutscenes featuring well-known and respected actors such as Henry Cavill and Gary Oldman, along with gameplay segments. Since the demo was streamed live, there were a few hiccups, including the game freezing a couple of times.

The crowdfunding campaign for Star Citizen began back in 2012, and over time, the developers have raised nearly $730 million. Squadron 42 was originally planned for release in 2014, but the launch, along with beta testing, has been repeatedly delayed. In October 2023, the developers showcased 30 minutes of gameplay and announced that the game had entered the polishing stage.
