The creators of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII have unveiled a gameplay trailer for the strategy game on PS5 and shared details about this console version.

The developers reminded players that they will be able to develop their Civilization across three eras, reflecting significant chapters in human history. For the first time, fans will be able to separately choose civilizations and their leaders. It is also briefly mentioned that multiplayer will allow players to choose between large campaigns spanning three eras or shorter options that end in a single era. In the Ancient Era and Age of Discoveries, multiplayer supports up to five players, while in the Modern Era, up to eight players can join.

The game will release on PlayStation the same day as its PC launch, which is also a first — February 11, 2025, for PlayStation, PC, Xbox, and Switch. On release day, the game will support crossplay, and new content will be added simultaneously across all platforms. The interface on consoles has been fully adapted to make it easier and quicker to navigate during gameplay.

Additionally, PS5 will feature support for the DualSense controller’s features, with vibrations reflecting various actions — such as the completion of construction or taking damage in battle. When declaring war using the controller, for example, players will feel a pulsating sensation as if holding a military horn, and opening a city will produce the sound of a hammer.

Because the game will have an engine optimised specifically for PS4 and PS5, we shouldn't worry that much about Switch performance. The system requirements are also mild, so we should have fun with updated gameplay.
