Paradox has announced the cancellation of the life simulator Life by You after several delays in its release date. The game was initially planned to be released in early access on June 4, 2024.

Paradox described the decision to cancel Life by You as very difficult, given that the game had been in development since at least 2019. According to a statement from the creators of Life by You, they analyzed the current state of the game and concluded that it was far from being ready for release. The company admitted that they had spent too much time developing the life sim, yet its status remained uncertain. Consequently, Paradox Interactive decided to cease further work on the project.

The creators of Life by You had positioned the game as an ambitious alternative to The Sims. They planned for their life sim to have no loading screens, the ability to freely move around open locations, extensive world-building options, and advanced mod support.

The development of Life by You was led by Rod Humble, a game designer for The Sims 2 and former vice president of Electronic Arts.
