Many people have long wished to see Sonic and Mario battle it out on the big screen. Supporters have voiced their opinions about a potential partnership between Sega and Nintendo.
KH Studio has released a concept trailer where two iconic characters, Mario and Sonic, collide for a crossover movie. The colorful landscapes of the Mushroom Kingdom are replaced by fast-paced scenes with Sonic, showcasing what a movie combining the two franchises could be like.
It was the success of the movie adaptations of Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog, which together grossed over $2 billion at the global box office, that inspired the creators to create such a trailer.
While an actual collaboration between Nintendo and Sega's heroes is unlikely due to their historical rivalry, the idea of bringing the heroes together resonated with fans.
In the meantime, viewers can expect sequels to the popular franchises - “Super Mario Brothers at the Movies 2” in 2026 and “Sonic 4 at the Movies” in 2027.
In December The partnership between McDonald's, Sega, and Paramount was revealed. Sonic landed in the United States. After McDonald's released toys in 2022, fans hoped the fast food chain would collaborate with Sega and Paramount on the franchise's third film. After much speculation, McDonald's unveiled a new Sonic for Colombian consumers.
The commercial featured twelve different hedgehogs, but no one considered releasing them in the United States. McDonald's later announced that it would also be available in the US. Each Sonic Happy Meal comes with a special Sonic the Hedgehog 3 toy, a side dish, a drink, and either chicken McNuggets or hamburgers.
